The decision to start a new life is never an easy one, but for Joe the transition was far from figurative. Becoming a permanent addition to a game world, it doesn’t take long to learn that people with his abilities are actively hunted. In fact, if the wrong people gained knowledge of what he was capable of, assassins would appear in droves.
In his pursuit of power, Joe fights alongside his team, completes quests, and delves into the mysteries of his class, which he quickly discovers can be practiced only in secret. Ultimately, his goal is to complete every mission, master every ability, and learn all of the world’s secrets. All he has to do is survive long enough to make that happen.

I like this book. Better than Average

Agreed this author really has a knack for storytelling and game mechanics. With so many authors making attempts at litrpg books it’s clear to sort out the ones that just want to try and those that actually enjoy writing these books. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the rest of the storie.

World Building - 10/10
Characters - 8/10
Narrator - 8/10
Story - 7/10
A very fleshed out world with solid rules and a fun gaming system. The main character isn’t overly naive or impossibly perfect and the story is very well paced.

please keep up the good work and leave real reviews, it saves us casuals alot of time. I never want to slog through a bad cringefest of a book anymore.

Protagonist Backstory ruins the entire book. The author uses the main character’s back story as a soldier to setup the character’s plight and reason for making a life changing decision. But this same backstory seems to be ignored for every other aspect of this book. The author seems to never have met a real soldier. The drive a soldier gets from the training they endure is not reflected in the character. The main character seems more like a nerd playing a fallen soldier than an actual soldier. ALso, his class choice makes no sense. This man’s life was ruined because he became a crippled, he has been unable to walk or be phycially active for a very long time. The whole point of him going through with the procedure was so that he could walk again and live life again. I cant think of any person who when given the option to walk, skip and jump again, would then in turn pick a class that is physically weak. More likely they would choose a physical class so they may right away, fully enjoy gaining use of their body again. Not to mention he is a trained SOLDIER, a fighting class woudla been far more appropriate based on this characters backstory.
The world itself is “ok” but I feel I coulda enjoyed this book a lot more if the main character was more believable.

finally got around to finishing this one, had a back log of like 30 books to listen to. I’m quite addicted to litrpg. Like some people who are frequently seen reviewing stuff I feel like I have a decent grasp on good story telling. This book, I listened to the entire thing, the beginning what slow and weird but after that I got sucked in. I enjoyed it enough that I didn’t see the need to nit pick stuff i hate about it. Everything turned out fine, i’m starting up the second book as I type this. 4/5
